Meet Miss KayJay Violet (aka Violet)!! She is the newest addition to the Start family. Here is a few bits of info about her:
-She is a retired greyhound from Florida
-She will be 5 years old in September
-She is blue fawn in color
-Her previous family could not keep her because of the mothers (human) illness
-She is housebroke, crate trained, good with small children and cats
-She never raced - only trained for 2 years, and then was rescued
She has been in our home for a whopping 3 hours now, and the kiddos can't leave her alone. She must be a patient girl, because Isabelle continually wants to pet her and climb on her. Cooper is very good with, always talking to her and petting her. Telling her she will love our house. She is a very nice dog. We took her on a short walk, and she walks on a leash like a pro. The thing I'm most excited about is that she is house trained......HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!! My carpet thanks her!! Also, she is very pretty. We've done a LOT of research on dogs - and a greyhound sounded just like what we wanted. Child friendly, very little shedding, and good for people with allergies.
The adoption process was about as nerve racking as adopting from Russia and China (not really, but holy smokes!). We had to submit a 5 page application, supply 2 references and our vet. After we passed those steps we had a home visit. WOW. Anyway, we passed because our new girl is home. I'll keep everyone posted on how it's going!
(By the way, the walk must have tuckered her out - she is sleeping on her very used pillow)

At the Tongginator household, we have a soft spot in our hearts for rescued greyhounds. Good for y'all! She'll bring you much joy!
Congratulations to you! Violet is beautiful. My sister just adopted a greyhound, so there must be something in the air. :-) She and her ex-husband had one before, and he was the sweetest, gentlest dog. I haven't met her new dog yet, as she lives up in Atlanta. Have fun with your new addition!
