when I can't tear myself away from the television because the Olympics are on. I LOVE the Olympics - always have!! This afternoon we watched the men's road race from Tiananmen
Square to the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China. Usually not a big deal, however in
September 2006 we took the same route in a tour bus with our China adoption family. The road is extremely hilly and very windy - bad enough in a bus, let alone on a bike having to pedal. No thanks. It's really incredible when Cooper is watching and says "hey - we saw the Birds Nest being built when we went to get Izzy"!! I love it that he was old enough to always remember this amazing trip. In 2002, while waiting to travel to Russia to bring Cooper home, I watched the Olympics every night while sewing his crib bedding. Anyway, so not only do we cheer for the U.S.A, we also cheer for the Russian and Chinese teams. In 2014 the games will be held in Russia (which will be the winter games - my favorite!!) It's always fun to be watching and be able to say - I've been there.
During the opening ceremonies, when playing the traditional Chinese music, Isabelle would hum along. We watched the movie "the Last emperor" a few weeks ago and she did the same thing. I can't believe that she would remember anything - but who knows, maybe her foster parents really loved music. I find this amazing, and just had to share.

Hello, my name is Tonggu Momma and I am an Olympics FREAK! It's sad that the poor Tongginator is competing for my attention. I'm a terrible mother (at least for two weeks every four years). Now I'm off to play a game with the Tongginator while cycling plays in the background.
Chet and I had the same response to the bike racing yesterday. It is pretty amazing. During the Opening Ceremonies, Mary Joyce kept pointing at the TV and saying, "Dat's China!"
i absolutely believe that isabelle could remember some of the sounds from china- that is incredible!
i can't believe that during the 2002 games you hadn't gotten cooper yet. i remember those games like they were yesterday b/c of them being in salt lake, but to think that we didn't have cooper yet- thats crazy!!!
big squeezes to all.
