The walls are rag painted - actually just one wall. It was that way when we bought the house, and I still love it. It's pretty cool how it was done. The previous owner hired a painter to do it. She ragged with one color first and then with the second color she added something to it to give it a really cool sheen, and then over that did it again with the first color!! My floor is oak....not my favorite. It looks really nice, but it dings up like a bugger!! If anything is dropped there is usually a dent. I would like a wood a little less soft!! Anyway, thanks for the compliments!!

Thanks for posting this. I love your walls and floors, they have so much character! I have laminate flooring and they look awful to me...and I suppose just knowing that they won't age gracefully and get any better just makes me like them even less. I think old wood floors are so interesting...the stories that lie in every bump and scratch make them priceless. Guess that is why I'll always be partial to old farm houses rather than new construction. I love houses that have stories to tell.
